Sit! Stay! Learn How to Help Your Patients’ Behavior Problems

In this two-day virtual vet conference, we’ll learn how to read our patients’ minds! Well, almost. In this comprehensive CE, award-winning Veterinary Behaviorist, Dr. Amy Pike, will help us understand the cues our patients are giving us through their body language and behavior. Through videos and discussion, we’ll learn to differentiate medical, environmental, and psychological causes of unwanted behaviors.

Then, we’ll study how and when to prescribe medical treatment, training, or environmental adjustments to create happier pets and families. By the end of the course, you’ll understand the importance of the mantra – behavior medicine is always medical first, behavior second – and will walk away with renewed enthusiasm for helping your patients and clients through any unwanted behavior.

  • Body language – how to speak dog and cat
  • House soiling
  • Separation anxiety
  • Aggression
  • Behavioral modification to allow medical treatments
  • Treating any behavioral problem with the “6 M” method
  • Psychotropic medications – uses, doses, risk/benefit, efficacy

Meet Dr. Pike

LSVA is thrilled to welcome Veterinary Behaviorist, Dr. Amy Pike!

Dr. Pike graduated from Colorado State University in 2003. After graduation, she was commissioned as a Captain into the Army Veterinary Corps where taking care of the Military Working Dogs returning from deployment spurred her interests in behavior medicine. Dr. Pike completed a Residency program under Dr. Debra Horwitz, DACVB and became board certified in 2015.

Dr. Pike is co-owner of the Animal Behavior Wellness Center with locations in Richmond and Fairfax Virginia. Dr. Pike was recently named one of the “Top Veterinarians of Northern Virginia” by NoVa Magazine for the fifth year in a row.

In her ample spare time (ha ha) she loves to garden and hang out with her active duty Army husband of 20 years, Tom, her 13-year-old daughter Alexa, her 8-year-old son Grayson, and their menagerie/zoo- Pinocchio (27 yr old African Ring Neck parakeet), Dobby (6 yr old Devon Rex), Ike (aka Dwight D. Eisenschnauzer, 4 yr old Giant Schnauzer), Scooby Doo (2 yr old, Mini schnauzer), Ginny (aka Ruth Bader Ginsbark, 2 month old Airedale) and Prickles (1 yr old Hedgehog).

“This is the first in person CE that I have attending since covid. This experience went beyond my expectations.” – LSVA In Person Workshop Attendee

“I think the speakers were stupendous. I just loved these presentations” – LSVA Webinar Attendee

“Just wanna say these talks are excellent, Dr Jones and Dr Atkins both have such a command of this topic for obvious reasons. It reminds me of the best professors in Vet School who would speak with complete authority because they knew the topic cold.” – LSVA Webinar Attendee

Top notch, fantastic. I was really dreading this because I dislike CE environments but really enjoyed.

I learned SO much about myself and feel empowered to make real changes in my life.

I felt it was very well organized and I felt taken care of. Julie was an excellent speaker and I enjoyed the content very much.

I couldn’t imagine the program running any smoother.

More dates! More events! Love these and I will be back! THANK YOU!

Excellent conference!!! Much more intimate than the large conferences.

I love that we wrote and expressed rather than just taking in material. This was interactive for real.
