Hello Friends and Colleagues,

Thank you for being part of Lone Star Veterinary Academy! Your support and kindness through the past two months have been a bright spot in otherwise trying times. As you know, COVID-19 is continuing to impact social gatherings and businesses across the world. We remain committed to serving our veterinary community throughout the pandemic, even if the shape of our meetings must change.

We’ve continued to closely monitor Local, State, and National Guidelines, and it has become clear that those orders will continue to prevent or radically change public gatherings well into the summer.

After consulting with our Venue Coordinators and Our Speakers, Dr. Couto and Dr. Alleman, we have decided to reschedule LSVA’s July Clinical Pathology Seminar to July 10-11, 2021. We know this news may be disappointing. Please know that our decision was not made lightly. Our #1 priority will always be to provide continuing education experiences of the highest quality.

This program is designed to create thought-provoking discussions and fun interactions between our speakers and attendees – something that simply could not be replicated online. Rather than follow through with a sub-par program, we will look forward to an exceptional in-person workshop next year!

Clinical Pathology, Simplified

This comprehensive course encompasses a wide array of laboratory diagnostics with emphasis on application in a small animal private practice setting. This weekend will focus on hematology, cytology, oncology, biochemical profiles, and urinalysis. Join us for informative and interactive sessions, which will include traditional lectures, case-based presentations, and occasional bad jokes from old friends and accomplished speaking duo, Dr. Rick Alleman and Dr. Guillermo Couto.

Objectives

  • interpretation of the hemogram and dot plots
  • blood smear evaluation with emphasis of clinically relevant morphological changes
  • tissue aspiration cytology of tumors, lymph nodes and other important organs and body fluids
  • evaluation of urine and urine sediment

The combined areas of expertise for the presenters include hematology, cytology, oncology, internal medicine and vector-borne diseases.  Utilize the skills you learn this weekend to begin improving the lives of canine and feline patients in your practice as soon as you return.
